What a beautiful way to celebrate the Summer Solstice! This past weekend, birding enthusiasts gathered at ABR Trails for a delightful two days of avian observation. The early starts on Friday and Saturday were made all the more pleasant by the warm welcome of coffee and delicious blueberry muffins, providing the perfect fuel for our feathered adventure.
While a few mosquitoes made their presence known, they certainly didn’t dampen spirits, as the air was filled with the vibrant sounds of singing birds. It was a true chorus of nature, a testament to the thriving bird population at ABR Trails. The absolute highlight for many was when several barred owls decided to “cut loose” for nearly ten minutes, their iconic calls echoing through the trees—a truly unforgettable experience!
The grand finale of our outing was an official sighting that warmed everyone’s hearts: a ruffed grouse with her young. It was a perfect ending to a magical morning, reminding us of the cycles of nature and the beauty of new life.
