Honor & Memorial Option
Honor your Trail
Honor a Nordic ski trail by donating to the Anderson Bluff & River Trail Foundation. Help sustain the ABR legacy for generations to come by donating to the Anderson Bluff & River Trail Foundation. Donations would cover the foundation’s cost for winter grooming, summer maintenance and fall preseason maintenance. This program is meant to mirror an adopt a highway program but goes one step further to honor what the trail provides, natural beauty, healthy activity, animal habitat and family memories of the trail. Honor a loved one while ensuring the future of ‘your’ trail.
Recognition
- Signs would be posted on the trail to recognize the donors
- Website page
- Newsletter postings
- Sign at trailhead
Examples
- Honor the Sunset Trail in loving memory of our dad, Dave Anderson (co- founder of ABR and his sun has set)
- Honor the Cherry Dairy Trail to honor the natural beauty of the Upper Peninsula by the Anderson family (my last ski with Grandpa Andresen and first ski with my granddaughter)
- Honor the Blueberry Bluff Trail to honor the Highhill family of Erwin (my grandma’s family picked blueberries in this area)

The difference between this program and highway adopt a highway, is the donor organization does NOT do the work themselves. The Foundation pays staff to perform winter grooming. The Foundation organizes volunteers to perform preseason trail maintenance. The Foundation pays the Operations Manager to mow the trails in the summer. The donation covers or defrays the expenses.
A donation would be a minimum of annual, with discounts for five years and a maximum of 10 years.
Honor Your Trail Donation schedule

Legacy Giving
Become a Legacy Society Member
The Anderson Bluffs & River Trails Foundation has established a Legacy Society to recognize supporters of the Vision. These members believe in the Foundation’s vision to ‘Sustain the ABR legacy as the Midwest’s premier Nordic ski destination for generations to come”. The Legacy Society members are led by Eric Anderson and Angela Santini, the true legacy founders. Society members like you have made verbal commitments to the Foundation to transfer a portion of their wealth in future wills and trusts. These include contributions of money, stock, land, or equipment/ buildings.
We have skated and classic skied at ABR for almost 20 years, and love everything about it. We were blown away by not only Eric and Angela’s vision for the future, and their incredible generosity, but also the progress of the Foundation. We have made provisions in our wills for a bequest to help secure the future of ABR as a preeminent venue for all cross-country skiers to enjoy as much we have.

IRA Rollover Gifts
Gifts from Retirement Plans
Your retirement-plan benefits are very likely a significant portion of your net worth. And because of special tax considerations, they could make an excellent choice for funding a charitable gift.
Retirement-plan benefits include assets held in individual retirement accounts (IRAs), 401(k) plans, profit-sharing plans, Keogh plans, and 403(b) plans.
“IRA Rollover” Gifts – Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)
The Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes (PATH) Act of 2015 made permanent the qualified charitable transfer provision, which is popularly known as the IRA charitable rollover. The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023, commonly known as the omnibus bill, expanded the benefits of the charitable rollover.
Benefits of the IRA charitable rollover
- The gift is very simple to arrange.
- The amount transferred from an IRA to charity is not added to taxable income.
- The amount you transfer will count towards your mandatory distribution.
- The rollover gift can be outright (the Foundation can use it now), or it can be for a life-income plan (pays income to the donor and/or spouse).
- You support the programs that are important to you.
- You are in the driver’s seat.
Here are the steps to make this gift
- If you want to make a qualifying transfer, contact your financial advisor or IRA administrator and instruct them to transfer funds to the Foundation (#84-2267605).
- Contact our office contact us at 509-554-4272 or AndersonFoundation13@gmail.com
- We will answer your questions, discuss your gift, and discuss the purpose for which you would like your gift to be used.
The Foundation’s tax identification number is 84-2267605.

PistenBully Campaign
Grooming Your Future
ABR has been successful over the years by delivering premier trail grooming every day in a beautiful natural setting with plentiful snow. This core value requires technical decision making, experienced grooming staff and the right equipment. Let’s focus on having the right equipment.
ABR Ski Trails is planning to donate one PistenBully to the Nonprofit Foundation in 2025. Eric estimates with continued proper maintenance and professional operations the Foundation will need to purchase a 2nd used PistenBully to assure continued and reliable grooming.
- The goal is to raise $200k
- The Foundation already has reserves saved
- 2024-25 Goal is $10k
- All PB donations will be held in a restricted Anderson Bluffs & River Trails Foundation account only for the PB Project
