an effort to maximize early season Natural snow
For cross-country skiers, an “early snow loop” is more than just a trail; it’s a natural snow maximizer. It directly appeals to those devoted to get on skis earlier in the year and to maximize every precious snowflake.
This specially designed route includes trails that are flatter, wider, smoother, and well-drained with fewer obstacles, allowing them to be groomed and skied on with significantly less snowpack than conventional trails.
With an early snow loop, the wait for the start of the ski season is dramatically shortened.
For the passionate cross-country skier, an Early Snow Loop means:
- Beating the Rush: You’re out there gliding while others are still checking snow reports and waxing skis in their living rooms. It’s the ultimate early bird advantage.
- Maximizing Natural Snow: In a world where consistent, deep, natural snow isn’t always a guarantee, an early snow loop transforms meager snowfall into usable terrain. It means more ski days.
- Conditioning and Skill Refinement: Getting on skis earlier allows for crucial early-season conditioning, sharpening technique and building endurance well before the prime conditions arrive.
- Fulfilling the Urge: For many, cross-country skiing is a deep-seated passion. An early season snow loop satisfies that primal urge to be on skis, to feel the glide, and to connect with the winter landscape, even when snow is minimal.
In essence, an early season snow loop allows cross-country skiers to indulge their passion sooner, more often, and with greater resilience to the winter weather. It’s about extending the ski season and making the most of every snowflake.
Announcing a NEW route designed to open our cross-country ski season earlier on natural snow
Why WE NEED YOUR HELP
Developing and maintaining a specialized trail like the Early Snow Loop is both a time-intensive and costly endeavor requiring significant resources beyond what is needed for typical trail maintenance. It’s not simply about waiting for snow to fall; it’s about actively creating and preserving optimal conditions when natural snowfall is scarce.
Creating the Early Snow Loop
We need your support to make this loop a success. Your generous contributions will directly fund:

Initial Trail Development & Grading
Creating an “early snow” trail requires meticulous planning and significant earthwork to ensure a smooth, obstacle-free surface that can hold minimal snow effectively. This involves surveying, clearing, and precise grading to prevent snow from being absorbed by uneven terrain and to remove obstacles from the trail that otherwise would have been covered with heavy snow.
