ABRT SKI AREA IS HIRING
CHIEF GROOMER AND GROOMERS
Help us sustain our history of excellence
and
Create our future
As the Foundation Board of Directors begins our second year operating the ABRT Foundation Ski Area, we are building the grooming team to sustain the best skiing in the Midwest for generations to come.
Eric Anderson’s reputation as an expert groomer is such that over 100 people attended his grooming clinic last winter. He knows the most advanced techniques and strategies for grooming and how to apply them across all snow and weather conditions. We are looking for groomers who would like to work for and learn from Eric.
As Eric moves toward retirement, we are hiring both an Assistant Chief Groomer and groomers. With Eric as mentor, an experienced groomer will have the opportunity to learn from the best and become our Chief Groomer as soon as you/they are ready. The Chief Groomer is responsible for managing the staff and equipment needed to sustain the best-groomed trails in the Midwest. This is a part-time seasonal position, and can be expanded for the person whose skills and interests enable contributions beyond grooming, into areas such as equipment maintenance, operations, ski tech, or working in the ski shop. Since Ironwood is in the snow belt, you will have more snow to groom than in most locations! You will work from 6 – 10:00 AM, leaving the rest of your day free for other activities. You will have days off each week. You will work with a highly-skilled, all-professional grooming team using well-maintained and capable equipment.
Our grooming equipment includes:
- 2 track vehicles (one with a heater)
- 2 PistenBullies (Both are pre-emission controls, so very reliable)
- 4 grooming-specific Bear Cats.
Our preferred candidate will bring these skills:
- Snow grooming,
- PistenBully or similar equipment operation,
- Mechanical skills to maintain grooming equipment,
- Management of skilled part-time staff,
- Prefers being part of a team-based culture.
We are also expanding the size of our crew with an experienced groomer who would like to explore part-time seasonal grooming. This person would not have management responsibility, but would also be mentored by Eric and his skilled grooming team.
We earnestly believe these are among the very best jobs that exist anywhere in the Nordic ski industry. ABRTF is committed to sustaining our status as the premier Nordic ski area in the Midwest… truly skilled long-time staff to work with and learn from…over 30 years offering uniquely pristine and perfectly groomed trails…hundreds of repeat loyal customers…financially strong…a highly dedicated and competent Board.
